6 fun creative ways to use solid colour laminates from Lamitak

Don’t underestimate the decorative potential of solid colour laminates! They might not mimic the look of wood, marble or fabric, but solid colour laminates can be used in many ways to create impactful designs for your home. Cut them up and use them with other laminate designs to create a collage of geometric shapes, or apply line etchings to create patterns to liven up the flat surface. As compared to using paint, laminates will ensure your walls have a super smooth finish and superb even colour tones. When used to create shapes, laminates also present a sharper and cleaner profile as compared to painting the shapes on. They are also really easy to maintain, requiring just a wipe to remove dust or stains. Get some inspiration from these six creative ideas which use solid colour laminates in totally new ways.

Idea 1

Featured laminates: Amaryllis SCX 1173D and Croco Vanilla DXO 4303B

This pretty pink wall also has a classy design edge, thanks to the sophisticated but simple pattern that has been applied to it using one of Lamitak’s newest solid colour laminates, Amaryllis. A strip of laminate in a contrasting colour gives the wall that extra kick of style.

Idea 2

Featured laminates (on right wall): Belize SCX 1171D and Jiro Shizuoka Oak WY 4253X;
(on left wall): Luuk Oak Giethoorn WYA 1277E

Match colour with pattern. The blocks of colour on this wall were created by contrasting the Tiffany blue of new colour Belize with the gentle wood-look of Luuk Oak Giethoorn. Follow the lines of a built-in storage cabinet to create the colour blocks or simply look at Tetris for inspiration!

Ever thought of using laminate for coloured walls instead of paint? What you’ll get are smooth surfaces with even colour tones throughout. The pairing of the Hemlock solid colour laminate with white wainscoting panels channels an old world charm that is contemporary at the same time.

Idea 4

Featured laminates: Lime SCX 5138D, Aqua SCA 5139D, Marina SCA 5117D

Popular in the eighties, the irreverent graphic style of the Memphis movement is back again! The electric hues of Lime, Aqua and Marina are applied in basic shapes to create a look that is fresh and statement-making.

Idea 5

Featured laminates: Passion Red SCA1112D and Koto Kuroki DXO 1349DC

Another colour and pattern pairing – this time, the brick red of Passion Red and the menswear fabric design of Koto Kuroki is used to create the clean graphic profiles of an unconventional pattern which acts as a feature wall in a living space.

This is just one example of how etching lines on laminates can open up a whole new area of decorative possibilities with this material. This simple technique on a solid colour laminate creates a pattern that amplifies the visual impact of a coloured wall with minimal cost!
